Temple Sinai - Denver, Colorado

Music Education

Youth Choir (Grades 2-5) :  Temple Sinai is blessed to have a talented and enthusiastic group of youngsters who devote their time to be a part of the Temple Sinai Youth Choir.  Our Youth Choir participates during our Family Services with their gifts of jubilant songs, as well as sings at the Purim Spiel, Simchat Torah and other holiday services.

Teen Music Group (Grades 6-12): Entering its second year, this group of at least 30 teenagers sings both liturgical and text-based music and gives our services more spirit and musicality many times throughout the year. With music incorporating powerful vocal harmonies and the opportunity for participants to show of their instrumental talents, the Teen Music Group has been an overwhelming success and is the perfect group for many of our enthusiastic teenagers.

Songleading Yitzirah (Grades 8-12): Yotzeir, stemming from the Hebrew verb “to create”, is how our song leading Yitzirah found its name. Our songleading Yitzirah is a class that helps improve skills for our teenagers who want to lead songs, music and services in TSYG, other Temple programs and NFTY events. These overall leadership and musical skills can be used well after high school as teachers, songleaders and other influential jobs in the Jewish community, be it Hillels, camps or other synagogues.

Adult Choir (Ages 18+): The Temple Sinai Adult Choir has been an integral part of the High Holy Days services since the Temple’s beginning in 1967.  The choir’s melodies and the devotion of the singers have been a constant inspiration to the members of Temple Sinai.

Not only does the Adult Choir lead the congregation in music during the High Holy Days season, but also brings their talent and spirit to uplift the and various Shabbat services during the year.  Musical repertoire is not only limited to classical favorites, but includes popular and inspirational contemporary melodies as well. No auditions are necessary to join our fun and musical family of singers, but note-reading experience and “a good ear” are beneficial.

Kol HaNeshamah (Ages 18+): Kol HaNeshamah, meaning “All of our souls” is a brand-new group for our adult congregants that will emphasize their musical and instrumental talents. Unlike the Adult choir which is based around vocals, Kol HaNeshamah’s focus is on the instrumentation of our music. Any instrument, from strings to percussion, piano to horns, is invited to participate.  Kol HaNeshamah will participate in various services and other special events throughout the year. If you play an instrument and would love to continue or get involved musically at Temple Sinai, please join Kol HaNeshamah and bring your instrumental soul to life!

To join any of our musical groups at Temple Sinai or for more information about our musical programs, please contact Bryan Zive, Cantorial Soloist/Music Director at bryan@sinaidenver or by calling the Temple office.
