Welcome Back! I hope you enjoyed the holiday weekend and the opportunity to explore the message of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our values-based curriculum is built on the principle of creating relevance between a student's secular life and Jewish tradition. We explore many of the values that Reverend King taught during his lifetime.
As mentioned in the Religious School Update you received last week, the Temple Sinai COVID Task Force has recommended that we remain virtual while Denver and Arapahoe Counties remain in level orange. As many of our local schools return to in-person learning, the state guidelines for level orange states “Counties are encouraged to prioritize in-person learning by suspending other Extracurricular and recreational activities in order to preserve effective cohorting and minimize disruptions to in person learning." We will remain virtual through February as we continue to monitor local guidelines with the health and safety of our students and staff as a priority.

In Parashat Bo, we learn of the first mitzvah the Jewish people received as a nation - the commandment of Rosh Chodesh. The months would be counted according to the phases of the moon. As slaves in Egypt, their time was not their own and belonged to their masters. Now, as free people, they will declare when the month begins and will have the responsibility to use their time wisely. How can you best use your free time? Do you think you typically use your free time well? Why or why not?
The virtual happy hour will be a great opportunity to connect with others in our Temple Sinai community and to learn about our various chavurot (small groups). Share your interests with others to find or create the chavurah that's right for you.
As we work to build our chavurah program and engage our community, help us direct you to the best place by taking two minutes to answer a few questions for us. Please click here to access our brief questionnaire.
