Ted and Dee Brooks were in San Diego early in May and paid their respects to the Chabad synagogue of Poway, which had been victimized by a murderous anti-Semitic attack. They were met at the door by armed security and a young lady who is the director of the school. After a great conversation with the young lady, where they offered words of support from Temple Sinai and the Denver Jewish community. They were invited in to don tefllin and daven with the Rabbi’s son, Rabbi Mendel. Ted admits that talking with the Rabbi and davining with him had him in tears most of the time. Afterwards the rabbi took a selfie for his records of visitors. Ted left with the thought of how strong, warm and welcoming the synagogue continues to be in spite of all they have been through in Poway.

Temple Sinai Havarah Chi Lights
In August we toured the Temple Israel Frontier Synagogue & Museum in Leadville, CO.  We highly recommend this adventure!  Leadville has a very rich Jewish history.  Our guide, Bill Korn provided lots of historical information about the people, activities, and places back in the late 1800's.

Earlier in the year our group got together for a min Seder during Pesach and we visited the Dead Sea Scrolls on display at the Denver Museum o f Nature and Science.  We also had a speaker from Hillel International to discuss "The Current State of Israel on College Campuses, including the BDS issue".  Lastly we met as a group for a very interesting discussion about ourselves and our Judaism.

This year has been fun, busy and educational!

l'shanah tovah,
Sandy & Mike Korn
